Retirement plans

What? i am 22 and thinking of this now?

Well retirement isnt abt getting old n die. Its achieving the financial freedom meaning not having to worry abt making more money anymore. ok feel free to consult me if u wanna noe more.

aniways, i hope to be there when i am 40? or max 50yrs old. and i talking to weiyen the other day as we were discussing abt carl jr franchise. Like buying the franchise n opening an outlet. OF course we're not rich kids. just glad to noe he's become business minded. im glad that hes slowly beginning to find direction in his life and as the conversation went on, i found that we kinda share the same retirement dream.

Which is to open a nice pastry shop at some not so crowded area. Sell nice coffee n all... n chill.. Isnt that great? hopefully with my wife by then. =) n then go traveling around the world as a when we like... Ahhhh

i think that wld be the perfect retirement life. and i have thrown away my thoughts of owning a yacht already.. haha.. i might just die, working n not enjoy the yacht.

So wads ur retirement plans?

Think again.

IQ test result

Visionary Philosopher

Your IQ Score is: 131

Your mind's strengths allow you to think ahead of the game — to imagine or anticipate what should come next in just about any situation. Because you're equally skilled in the numerical and verbal universes of the brain, you can draw from multiple sources of information to come up with great ideas. The timelessness of your vision and the balance between your various skills are what make you a Visionary Philosopher.

In addition to your strengths in math and linguistics, you have a knack for matching and anticipating patterns. These skills and your uncanny ability to detect the underlying blueprint of most of life's situations add to your Visionary Philosopher mind. Two philosophers who share the same combination of skills you possess are Plato and Benedict Spinoza. Spinoza had insight into how things worked in the world. He could envision a future based on the patterns he saw in life, and used mathematical logic as a structure within which to present his philosophical arguments. With that base he was able to use logic to formulate his theories. Borrowing from his linguistic strengths he wrote eloquent texts and, therefore, was able to bring his philosophical ideas and structure to the rest of the world. His story exemplifies the talents that are present in the Visionary Philosopher intellectual type.

Whatever you decide to do in life, you've got a powerful mix of skills and insight that can be applied in a wide variety of ways. You can expand your mind to understand a situation. Your strong balance of math and verbal skills will help you explain things to others. For example, if you were on an archaeological dig and discovered an object, you could probably use your deductive powers to figure out not only what the object was but also how it was used. Given your ability to put things together, you are more than capable of inventing a life plan that is in synch with your perspective on how things were, how they are, and how they might be one day.

Happy Teachers' Day

Here's the email conversation i had with my fav poly lecturer Mr Kalyan Chatterjea aka K.C. yea he coincidently share the same name initials~

--The message starts from below--

Well... i hvn exactly finished NS.. i signed on with the navy remember? still have abt 3 n half years to go... well still trying to learn wadever i can from my work but it just seems so limited because i am posted to patrol vessel. its abt 55m long and i have to go on patrol every now and then..

Sure we have some defects, but most then are handled by contractors, but i will stay n watch how they work and all.. And so when i met up with my classmate kelvin who is sailing with maersk now, he'd always say... "So is that what u all just do?" Cos i nv really have the chance to do overhualing of engines, machineries n stuff.. so i am pretty jealous that all my other friends seem to be learning much more than me.

And i cant wait to get out to the marine world outside. but im still unsure which field shld i go to in the marine industry. i am thinking of studying naval architecture, but i am unsure of the job nature and i am afraid i cant cope with the math is it really requires alot of math. However i do dream of designing my own ship maybe? Or maybe able to invent sth new.. has been my childhood dream to be an inventor.. haha. But then again, i find myself more of a hands on person too.. so i dun really have an idea how can i evolve myself.. Oh well it will be another 3 n half yrs to think about.

Linus if u remember finished his NS and recently joined this marine company called the CUT GROUP. Which does dismantling of oil rigs and stuff. and he says its very much hands on and workshop stuff. which he says hes not exactly a workshop person, but he seems fine with his job. not liking or disliking. And he says that hes got nice colleagues who wld teach him stuff too.

Anyway, since when and why did u decide to join the malaysian academy? Isit becos SMA is not giving u enough room for progress of ur works?

Finance

this getting outta hand.

My mum just conveniently says that im spending alot? wth man i've been watching my money like a hawk. Scrimping n saving here n there. and of course the super irritating car accident that i had recently that is just further digging into my bank.

And of course my dad is out of job for some time now. It just irks me to see him still buying 4D and betting on soccer. This seriously cant go on man

what else to pay? on top of giving my dad some expenses... i still gotta pay for car loan.. which im contemplating on renting out the car to solve the problem.

Its never in my financial plan to own a car man. for now at least.

Disgusted

And i just hope that i hv enuff left to fund my first trip outta southeast asia TAIWAN in nov... i think can just barely make it. if not more shit happens.

My colleagues hv been saying i've been moody lately, but somehow i didnt really notice it myself.. but just lately there alot of things going about my head.. about my future, the things that i aspire to accomplish but hvn got the chance to.. for a long time.

First on the list:

Perform on flute during Christmas -- basking, and give all proceeds to charity. which i hope to do as a small ensemble hopefully, but a duet is just good enuff.

2nd on list:

Prolly take up keelboat sailing course next yr, n go on sailing trips... if my finances allow...

random thoughts

Was supposed to meet wensu on wed but there's duty..  but just felt kinda lazy n tired to go out now. sigh

Nevertheless, im glad that we're still friends after so long and prolly meeting abt twice a year. Each meeting seems like a milestone of how much we've grown, and im getting to see the changes in us as time past by. its great to reminisce the good times we had in poly. thou we only manage to meet at expeditions, each was fun and looked forward to.

till the next time we meet girl...

the rubbish rumours at work is simply irritating.. with my "boss" n colleagues saying that the girl is drive to work every day is my gf. gosh. pls im just being kind for ferrying a colleague tht lives near me. thats all. kindness is my nature! ya dun puke. im just stating a fact..

and as for the girl that im currently having a crush on now, im just having a take it easy attitude on it. if nature decides the way it is, then will just follow its way. cos as for past experiences hasnt been successful and some has been painful. n well, we hadnt established much contact. so.. i'd still try to move her with simple kindness.

update

dad just submitted his resignation.

i kinda support his move cos his company management is simply "consuming" him. is that the right word? but aniwae, 4 years hes been in the spray painting company and i believe he's one of the key Generals that built up the company. overseeing and working on projects that're worth tens of thousands to multi-million projects today.

i shall not mention the name of the company. but its one of the biggest contractor that works on major projects in singapore namely, the signages in sentona, changi terminal 3, budget terminal, universities and so on... and the recent major project taken is the IR casino.

Despite having projects of this scale, the company management stubbornly refuses to expand the spray painting facilities, which poses a huge challenge to the spray painting team which is headed by my dad. without the expansion, it is little wonder that productivity is not good. As for the stand for the company is to cut cost as much as possible, the management doesnt see a need to expand.

The immediate superior of my father, who is a manager did not voice out to the management for the need to expand. and this is why my dad finds it so difficult to work. dad did mention that the company did try to source for workshop areas but met with much difficulty and negative comments n the idea became a flop.

That is why my dad quit. i believe he faces tremendous pressure from the projects that he could barely handle with his team, and more n more projects are coming up and most them due in 3 mths time.

well u may say its an irresponsible act, but i dun see it that way. cos firstly, it is a failure of the management, then although he may be seen as a small employee, but i believe hes has the right to ask for the expansion to facilitate his work. So his resignation is more of an alarm clock for his company to wake up to see his needs or rather what the company really needs on the ground.

The focus of the company is not there too, as my dad mentions that they actually employ graduates n bla bla in the administration side which is 3 times more man power than the production team. and some of these people hav no clue why they got employed there, and some left after working a few mths.

The irony and the probably the fact of other companies is that these graduates actually get paid much more than my dad. which shows how much the company or companies simply value a diploma or a degree over a ground worker or shld i say a key General in the production team. Which truly generates the earnings for the company. believe it or not, my dad makes just slightly less than 2k in basic pay.

So people, go and study for a bright future.

Trip to a trading company

I shall not name this trading company for the fear of getting sued in court. lol

Well, this company publishes its advertisements quite frequently in the newspaper n all. Once again, with my never dying inquisitiveness, i decided to check out this company as there was sth attractive -- being able to make 3000bucks per mth from trading.

Had actually wanted to get someone to go with me, but in the end, fortunately, i was there alone cos its a waste of time.

So this is how it goes, this company is in shenton way, n i had prior thinking that it may be in some high-rise building of some sort. Negative. The building is only a few stories high n looked pretty "run down".

i was in for the presentation, and this guy i wld name Mr Dracula presented. Y i name him that is cos he really looks like one. His face is very white looking, wear a pair of "gold" coloured glasses with its lens in a circular shape. OLD SCHOOL. His hair is neck length long. Gelled all the way back. Just like Dracula. He wore a black business suit with a white "chinese collar" shirt with a gold button on top.

His teeth looked, rotten. but somehow i was imagining he had fangs. My first impression of him -- Mr Con man.

Prior to the talk, i tot the venue wld be in an auditiorum with dozens of audience. but much to my surprise, it was a small classrm with computers with a a dozen of pple only. n the room pretty much looked like my sec sch classrm.

Then Mr Dracula, got very excited when he presented his president of the co. that i wld call him Mr Fat. He looked just abit smaller than moses lim of mediacorp. but have the same BIG double chin. He spoke like the fats were choking him. He was in a dark blue bzness suit. Wore a Golden watch, Jade ring, and had 2 montblanc pens in his chest pocket.

He presented all his blabla crap... Saying the co will fly in pro traders first class from US to conduct the class.. n in his presentation he showed a video of how this guy made 1000 over bucks in 10 mins. Wow. He too presented the 7 rules of trading which i didnt bother to take down cos its not exactly what im interested. n he mention in one of his slides that investing in unit trusts is a waste of money to the financial advisors. saying that 3 percent commission is alot.

Towards the end of the presentation, Mr Dracula came for the round up. He opened his fangs and asked how much wld we think that the programme wld cost, with these pro traders coming to mentor us. He showed a slide that all the sum comes up to 34K.. but followed by the special discounted rate of  $6990.

Madness.. i seriously tot there must be a catch in this bzness. In the first place, if a person can make so much money from  trading, why wld he bother to set up a sch to teach pple? he wld be too busy making money himself. n i tot if they cld fly in the pro trader first class from US, they must be making some handsome money from this.. crap.

After Mr Dracula finished, he walked out but came back into the class after a few seconds, saying Mr Fat feels happy today to give a discount of 1000 bucks for the first 3 pple who sign up. What stupid rubbish.

I cant stay awhile more in that junk room.
